‘WE RISE’ Exhibition

Last week, Paula was honoured to exhibit a piece of her late mother Norma Fryer’s work at the WE RISE exhibition, a celebration of the sea. This was a very special event, as the exhibition of Sea related art was held in Norma’s memory.  

You may remember that two years ago, when Norma passed away, the family chose to honour her memory not with flowers but by raising money to donate to a local charity in Whitstable Kent, where Norma had spent most of her life.  We managed to raise £1,000 which was very gratefully received by SOS Whitstable, a group founded by sea swimmers & now a small charity raising awareness of sea pollution. They have used part of the money for various projects, including last week’s exhibition held at the Fishslab gallery. Norma started & volunteered at this gallery, which allows local artists to exhibit & sell their work for free. 

So, it was very fitting to be back last week, meet up with artists & friends who all shared fond stories of Norma, whilst discussing the ongoing problem with pollution from local authorities.

A special lunch at a Michelin-star restaurant, hosted by school friends, added another layer of warmth to the occasion. During the meal, Paula received an invitation to hold a solo exhibition of Norma’s work, scheduled for 12th April – 23rd May 2027 - a testament to the enduring influence of Norma’s creativity & the respect she garnered within the artistic community.

Hannah’s Private Party

Last Saturday, we hosted a fun private workshop in Saltdean for Hannah & her guests. The group crafted chunky cotton & copper Macramé Plant Hangers, filling the afternoon with laughter, creativity, & beautiful handmade pieces - all while enjoying stunning sea views.

Arm Knit Blanket Workshop

Our sold-out Arm Knit Blanket workshop at Cocoon&me HQ was a vibrant success! Makers explored a rainbow of colours & techniques, creating cosy blankets & sharing plenty of fun. Special thanks to Mandy, who travelled all the way from Somerset to join us!
